So we decided to change the colors of the walls in our front two rooms. After testing out some of our prints against the original white, we concluded that they just didn't pop enough against it, which, given that we're a photography studio, is very, very important!
Amy picked out the first possible color, Hot Chocolate, and we painted a test spot on the wall. Unfortunately it was even worse than the white! The big wedding, senior, and baby prints we have were totally lost with that color, so we decided to take a different approach: red. Many, many swatches later, we decided on the shade:
Of course, in the process of doing the front room, we also decided the second room needed to be a color that was neither white nor red. A dark, chocolatey brown won out:
Remember that bathroom we finished? We had to destroy it (temporarily). Turns out the only access to the drain pipe was directly behind the ceramic tile below the bathroom sink. We'd decided to put in an additional sink for a few reasons: 1. The sink currently in the bathroom is very small; 2. The sink is in the bathroom; and 3. One sink isn't enough, particularly if the bathroom is occupied.
The water pipes are easy to get at, fortunately, but the drain required a bit more:
This long stretch of pipe will be totally hidden by the additional changing room we’re building and the small kitchenette just to the right of it.
This past weekend a moulding store close to us had its going-out-of-business sale. We feel bad for the guys running it — they got hit by the total lack of construction going on around here currently. We picked up a number of props they had been using to decorate their sample sets in the showroom and also some moulding, paneling, and columns that we plan on building some of our sets with.
It’s taking a lot of time and money for sure, but we’re well on our way to having this ready to go with multiple sets for the upcoming high school senior photo season as well as our other family and baby photo sessions.
